In addition, we offer specific sessions on a Thursday and Friday afternoon just for those 3 - 5 years olds who will be starting primary school in September 2023.  These sessions take place at Egerton Church of England Primary School, but continue to be staffed by Preschool.

Running these sessions enables us to offer a slightly different curriculum, to what takes place on a day to day basis at preschool.

We support the children to grow in independence by walking up to school from the preschool setting using our ring hoop system. The children observe more of the environment around us and are aware of how to keep safe e,g. road safety - Stop, Look, Listen.  The children respect that there are different rules to follow at school, when we travel around the school from our designated area to the outside space, the children are respectful that other children are learning and walk respectfully.

Working closely with the early years team at Egerton Church of England Primary School we help the children with school readiness. We follow the Read Write Inc programme teaching the children the basic phonetic sounds. We support independence with dressing, undressing and recognising the need to attend to their own hygiene needs. Resulting in a smoother transition to primary school.
